Chapter 5

Without all the details that he needed, William was at a loss on how to fix the problem that his last client was having. The man was about as closed mouth as anyone he’d ever worked with before.

“You said your wife was alive when you left for work that morning. Correct?” He said that she was having a cup of tea and bitching about how he’d eaten the last croissant that she wanted. “What did you say to her when she argued with you?”

“Nothing.” That was what he’d been saying for the last three hours. Every question was met with the same answer, nothing. “I need to get this thing settled up that I didn’t kill my wife. She was a pain in the ass all the time, but I don’t have time to sit around here answering the same questions when I didn’t do anything to her. She’s dead. Let’s move on.”

“Mr. Billings, did you kill your wife? This is just between the two of us, and if I’m going to be trying to get you off, I need to know the truth. Did you kill Sara Billings?” He asked him why it was important to know the truth. “Because as it stands right now, I have nothing to work with you on this accusation that you murdered your wife in cold blood.”

“She was a pain in the ass. Always bitching about this and that.” William waited on him to get to the point. “The fucking cunt decided that she didn’t want to be married to me anymore, so I made that happen.”

Sara Billings had been raped, sodomized, strangled and shot four times in the head. But that wasn’t all that had been done to the poor woman. Her hair had been shaved off her head as well as her vagina. Not with anything used to cut hair, but it looked as if he’d used a knife. Nicking and cutting her up so badly, it was difficult to think that she’d been a woman. Also, she’d been beaten. Her face and torso had been bruised up so badly that she looked more black and blue than her natural skin tone. And this man thought that he was justified in his actions.

“Mr. Billings, you were caught with her body while trying to dump her in a shallow grave. You were covered in her blood as well as the items that you used were covered in your fingerprints. DNA confirms that you were the one that raped her. Is there anything that you can tell me that would explain all that to the court? As it looks right now, you’re going to prison.” He said that he wasn’t because he was going to get him off so that he could move on in his life. “I don’t think that’s going to happen. The evidence against you is overwhelming. Not only that, there are cameras all over the neighborhood where you live that shows you putting her in the truck of your car and leaving with her body.
