Serena

“Alwin,” I step through to the other side and see nothing but frost and snow for miles all around. I could’ve sworn he was just right here. Standing in front of me.

A gust of cold wind feels like a thousand needles poking me at once. I wrap my wings around myself to fight against the frozen assault. When it dies down, I don’t unwrap my wings all the way.

I continue to use them to keep me warm. Turning around I see that the door is gone and I’m curious to know whether I made it out or not.

“Hello,” I yell. The only response is my voice echoing in the far-off distance. “Is anybody out there?”

Nothing but the cool wind answers my call. When I start to move forward, the breeze blows hard against my back, pushing me faster until I am no longer in control as I am trapped in a vortex of wind and snow being hurdled towards the mountain side.

Just when I think, this is how I will die. Becoming a fire pancake on the side of the mountains. I come to a halt. In the far-off distance, I can hear voices. Looking below my feet I see tiny figures moving up the mountain side.

As I begin to lower, they become clearer.

“If you do it again without warning, I will fillet your skin from your bone.” Alwin s voice thundered with his threat. He was talking to a human male walking just ahead of him. Behind him I see a pixie with bright pink hair, and I know her, but I don’t remember.

“Alwin,” I shout but he appears to not have heard me. Moving lower, I stand a few feet in front of him. Directly in his line of sight. We he stops for a moment; he cocks his head to the side. His blue-grey eyes examining.

“It’s me, Serena. I’m back.” I smile and when I move to grab his hand, he steps right though me leaving me wide-eyed and confused. “Ancients I’m no longer in the realm of spirits but I am still a blessed spirit.”

I calm myself down just a little bit. But then I feel a chill move through my body as the human steps through me.

I look at his face expecting to see a human, but I see something worse. A gilded helm with a domed top and two antlers sticking out the side sits atop the face of The Devil. Not the ones depicting in other stories but the one that matches that of the Tarot Card. A master of deceit and one that I have fallen for many times.

They do not know they have a traitor amongst them. I must warn him somehow.

After the human passes by next is the pixie. I prepare for whatever feelings she will bring about, expecting the worst but all I feel is safe. A flood of memories comes to mind of my days at Ermlon Castle. She was basically the maid that brought me food, clean my room, and changed my chamber pots.
