Chapter Twenty
Life, living with Anna Garcia, was wonderful so far. Molly got home from work and would quickly get showered and changed, and usually had some kind of meal ready for when Anna strolled through the door.
Tonight was no exception, except for the fact that instead of placing it all on the kitchen table, she had brought it into the living room. She had assembled a meze of crackers and breads, dips, olives, and little sweet piquanté peppers filled with cream cheese. She poured two glasses of wine and lit some candles.
When Anna arrived, she found Molly lounged out on the couch, sipping her drink, looking up at her. âDid I miss a celebration or something? Anna asked, looking around the room.
âNo, I just thought this would be nice,â Molly said, sitting up and making room for Anna to slide in behind her.
âI like it.â Anna smiled, kissing the side of her head before reaching for a plate. âI am starving.â
âHow was your day?â Molly asked, snuggling back into her at the right angle so that they could both still eat and talk.
Anna sighed and quickly chewed the olive in her mouth. âIt was good. Mildred was super annoying though. I had to turn the phone off in the end and pretend the signal was bad.â She chuckled. âYou?â
âI had a lovely day, actually. Nothing exciting, or out of the ordinary. Just a lovely day.â
Anna placed her plate down and wrapped her arms around Molly. âI really like this; this is my favourite part of every day.â
Sighing contentedly, Molly whispered, âMine too.â

âWhat do you mean?â Molly asked when Joyce had pulled her to one side.
Joyce leaned in. âItâs been three weeks since Anna moved in.â
Molly shrugged. âSo?â
âIâm just saying that it would be nice, you know, to get to know her better. Your friends are interested. Some woman appears out of nowhere and youâre living with her? Just like that!â
Molly considered it. She guessed they probably all did need an explanation at some point; she just wasnât sure what it was. How did you tell your closest friends you got married to a stranger and were now trying to see if it could work? It was ridiculous. And she hadnât even thought about what she would say to her parents.
âOkay, fine. I will organise a small soiree at my house to introduce you all.â
Joyce grinned and turned back to the customer.
âThings must be serious,â Joyce continued once she had taken the customerâs order. âYouâre not even putting up a fight.â
Molly narrowed her eyes at her friend. âThat doesnât mean anything.â Though she knew it did. She was totally smitten with Anna. All she wanted to do was show her off to everyone with a giant âlook at me and who I get to kiss whenever I want toâ party, butâ¦with that came questions. And that was the part that Molly wasnât prepared for.
Too many times, she had found someone she thought she could love, introduced them to all of her
