This dog clearly has no problem being put on his back, but many dogs really dislike it, and whether your dog will let you manipulate him this way tells you little about how to train him.

I think it is so much easier when the average pet owner understands how to coexist with the dog and that the dog just wants to please him or her. If owners use the alpha/submissive technique, especially on a Blue, Green, or Yellow dog, they could easily destroy the dog’s trust in them very quickly. Beliefs based on so-called universal truths about dog behavior may have little basis in the reality of your dog’s situation in your household. Putting these beliefs into practice and attempting to assert your “alpha” status can result in real damage to the bond you are attempting to build with your dog. Adherence to accepted notions of “pack philosophy” may prevent you from seeing your dog as an individual with specific needs that could be addressed more successfully in a custom-tailored training program such as mine.
