On Being a Mirror

Sometimes I think that being an early adopter of an ethical vegan lifestyle means that we become mirrors for our friends and family members. Humans (pretty much all of us, the vast majority of the time) like to have our decisions supported or ignored. We don’t like having our current or even past behavior held up in any way that could be considered negative. Calling our decisions in to question, holding our choices up to the light of common sense—or scientific fact—is often very uncomfortable for us. Much of this book does just that—sometimes implicitly, sometimes explicitly.
