“What did you call me?” the man demanded, clearly not seeing Bob and making the assumption that Keith had been the one to speak.

This wasn’t good, but it wasn’t horrible either. If Keith played this carefully, he might still be able to avoid a fight.

“You clearly haven’t had enough to drink if you’re hearing me saying things,” Keith said, adopting a light tone. “How about I buy you another?”

“I like the sound of that,” the man said, a big, stupid smile coming to his face.

“Hey,” Bob complained, hopping onto Keith’s shoulder. “Don’t give this moron more booze! He’ll just splash it all over my nuts again.”

Keith didn’t want to tell the monkey how wrong that sounded, as he knew Bob was completely innocent. Still, he wanted to wallop the idiot of a guide. There was no way the man would just let it pass now.

“No one insults the great Craig and lives to tell about it,” the man roared. “Not even giant talking mice.”

“I’m not a mouse, idiot,” Bob said. “I’m clearly a monkey. Are you blind in addition to being stupid?”

With a roar, the man took a swing, which Bob inevitably dodged. The meaty fist would have connected with Keith’s face had he not stepped in and blocked it, twisting the man’s arm behind his back and holding him still. Had this been a lone man, he might have knocked him out – after all, he was definitely too drunk to be able to recall what happened when he recovered the next day. However, he was wearing a white shoulder patch, which meant he had friends here.

“Will one of you please control your friend?” Keith said, speaking to the nearest group from the Areal Wilds Guild.

Four beefy-looking men had been watching but had done nothing to intervene. They all had oversized gauntlets clipped to their belts, which told Keith about the type of fighting style they used. Additionally, seeing as their weapons matched the ones of the drunk man he had pinned, he could assume they were in the same party, in addition to being in the same guild.

“A martial artist, aye,” one of the men said, not moving to help.

“That much is obvious,” Keith said, twisting harder on the arm he was holding as the man tried to struggle free.

He ignored the tingling feeling as the man very clearly analyzed him. He knew the man would only see a fraction of his actual skills, so he wasn’t too worried.

“A Pest Control loser who thinks he can fight,” another of the men said. “What a riot, aye, boys?”

The other men laughed as Keith continued to pin the struggling man, who was now spitting and cursing.

“Are you going to take your friend, or am I going to have to knock him out?” Keith asked, remaining calm.

While it seemed like this guild and his own weren’t enemies, they didn’t appear to be friendly either.

“Think you can actually hurt him, do ya?” the man asked, grinning wider. “You call yourself a martial
