WHEN THEY DECIDED TO take a break for lunch, Damon offered to grab something from the kitchens that they could eat outside.

“It’s a nice day,” he reasoned before shifting back inside to hunt for food, leaving Freya alone with Isabelle.

A moment after they were alone, Freya felt a shift in the air, as if it was easier to breathe.

She turned to Isabelle and blinked as she realised that she was no longer having the same overwhelming reaction to her.

She was still gorgeous, of course, just like in the Shadow Realm, but just like in the Shadow Realm, Freya felt as if she could finally think straight when looking at her.

“Did you just...” Freya started, unsure how to phrase her question.

Isabelle’s cheeks turned red. “You, um... You noticed that, huh?”

“It was kind of hard to miss,” Freya eventually settled for saying, figuring that she should just be honest now that they were on the topic anyway.

“I... I’m sorry, I didn’t even realise I was doing it at first. My Elven magic activates subconsciously most of the time, so it just happens automatically when I’m around people I like. I suppose that means you and Damon have been getting it at full blast. By the time I realised I was doing it... Well, it didn’t seem to be affecting you at all, so I figured it wasn’t a problem, and I worried that toning it down would alert you to the fact that I was using it at all and...” She cringed. “Sorry.”

Freya gave her a sympathetic look, just glad that she could finally think straight. “It’s fine, you didn’t mean it. Though as for it not affecting us... Damon and I are both Litcorde. Our outward reactions don’t always look the same as everyone else’s.”

“Oh... Yeah, I guess that would make sense. Sorry, then. Like I said, it just happens when I like people.”

Freya felt butterflies form in her stomach at Isabelle’s words. She couldn’t mean that she like liked them, right?

No, she probably just meant anyone she felt friendly towards.

She used her attraction-amplification magic on anyone she wanted to be friends with...

That sounded ridiculous even to Freya, but she couldn’t fathom the other option being the case.

Isabelle looked as if she was about to say something, but stopped herself, remaining silent for a moment before eventually figuring, “Well, if it’s a picnic we’re going to be having, I suppose we should sit down.”

Isabelle gracefully sat down cross-legged in a single, smooth motion.

Freya dropped down next to her in a much less graceful manner.

“I should have thought to include Damon in your training before,” Isabelle commented with a smile. “It’s so obvious how much his presence calms you. The two of you are so close... You mentioned knowing him since you were a child. Is this some fairy tale where he’s your first love, and you’ve never had eyes for anyone else?”

Freya snorted, her hand going to fiddle with her engagement ring. “No, definitely not. When we were young, neither of
