How does the psychic content of technology manifest itself? Or, how is the psychical apparatus represented in technology? Derrida in his “Freud and the Scene of Writing,” linking psyche to his notion of “text,” poses these questions:

What is a text, and what must the psyche be if it can be represented by a text? For if there is neither machine nor text without psychical origin, there is no domain of the psychic without text. Finally, what must be the relationship between psyche, writing, and spacing for such a metaphoric transition to be possible, not only, nor primarily, within theoretical discourse, but within the history of psyche, text, and technology.23
