fit. Rachel was five foot nine and had always felt uncomfortable with anyone but a very tall man. Although her feeling was understandable, as a criterion for choosing a partner it had become too limiting. In her dream, with its Cinderella motif, she was shown a new self-image to adopt: that of a small, dainty person. This would open up the field of men she found attractive to a larger group than before, which could increase her chances of finding a satisfying relationship. Her dream also seemed to carry the voice of optimism, confronting the depressed, pessimistic dreamer with a new, positive attitude.
