Krystina was exhausted when her alarm had gone off. Despite being tired when she’d gone to bed, she didn’t get a lot of sleep. She’d tossed and turned most of the night, thinking about how she’d completely surrendered to Dominic, the man she had vowed to hate. But the thing that sucked the most was that she didn’t really hate him. Maybe she never did. She’d been a girl without a family among a bunch of strangers. In those first few months after her grandmother had died, Krystina could admit that she was anti-social and angry all the time. She had, after all, gone through a traumatic experience and had lost her closest relative.

But as time passed and she grew closer to her guardian, Krystina had wanted more than anything to fit in and feel like she belonged. She realized then that if she was to become a real member of their family, she’d have to get into Dominic’s good graces. So whenever he’d come home from school, she made it a point to be as nice as she could to him. But no matter how hard she tried, he’d rebuffed her every step of the way. She finally got the hint when he’d uttered those words that she took to heart. You will never belong.

That had been the turning point for her where Dominic was concerned. But even when she thought she hated him, she never really did. And now she was in this predicament. She wasn’t the type of person to go in for casual sex. All three of her previous lovers were men she’d had some type of feelings for. Her first lover was in college. Jeremiah was an aspiring spoken word artist with dreadlocks down his back and beautiful caramel eyes. He’d been a gentle lover and he was the first guy she thought herself to be in love with. They’d been together for nearly a year when Jeremiah decided he needed space. Krystina had been heartbroken but she’d moved on.

Though she’d dated here and there throughout college, she didn’t have another serious boyfriend until her first trip to Paris where she met Francois. He owned a coffee shop she’d frequented. Francois was a master with his hands and tongue, but she soon found she wasn’t the only girl he was using that tongue on. Her last boyfriend was Kevin. A South African native she’d done volunteer work with. Kevin had been okay, but looking back, she honestly couldn’t remember much about their sexual encounters. Eventually, they both realized they were better off being friends.

Sex was something she could take or leave, before now. Dominic had done things to her that she’d only ever read in dirty books. Her encounters with Jeremiah, Francois and Kevin hadn’t prepared her for Dominic, who seemed to know all the spots to hit to make her body sing with desire. No one had made her ache quite the way he did. Something about the way he took her when they were intimate, turned Krystina on.
