Who actually reads eBooks, anyway?

When eBooks were first introduced, the hope was that they’d quickly replace traditional books, just as CDs made LPs and even cassettes virtually extinct. Well, that never happed. Most readers seem to prefer to hold a traditional book in their hands and manually turn the pages when they’re reading.

Yet, a niche and slowly growing audience for eBooks does exist. The good news is that some avid readers simply enjoy the convenience of downloading text to read on screen. For example, if you’re a frequent business traveler, you can take along your laptop or PDA and hold the full contents of several books and have access to them anytime you wish.
