Chapter Fifteen: The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF)
Despite the rumours of Congressional interest in Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) and even rumblings of crashed materials, we had nothing concrete to take to the media. It had been almost three years after the December 2017 disclosures, and we found ourselves no further forward with Pentagon acknowledgments regarding the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) or the Advanced Aerospace Weapons System Application Program (AAWSAP). The two infamous UAP programs were distinct in their focused remit and up until the 'walkback summer' of 2019 were a massive part of getting the mainstream to accept the anomalous phenomena was real. Sadly, we were faced with the very real possibility that it had all been for nothing, that the Pentagon had taken apart the UAP initiative, much as they historically did with anything related to Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). However, the one thing that kept us going in the #EndUAPSecrecy campaign was the effort to request that Congress take responsibility for the issue of UAP. Across the last quarter of 2019 and into 2020, we had created a push from within #UFOTwitter to have our American counterparts write, email and call their representatives. The legislation to establish an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) was already in place following the Congressional overriding of Donald Trumpâs National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) veto in January 2020. The result led to the formal establishment and acknowledgment of a new (acknowledged) task force by the summer of 2020. This was a big step forward for us and ultimately undermined any efforts to discredited AATIP/AAWSAP due to the very existence of a task force to investigate UAP. Regardless, we still needed the government acknowledgments of AATIP and more importantly, Elizondo. Primarily as it was Lue who was giving the background information to what was happening behind the scenes to the media. Elizondo was the unofficial education spokesperson for the UAP initiative, and we needed to ensure his credibility as this allowed the mainstream to go to him for a conspiracy-free credible narrative. In the end, the process was working without official verification, primarily because it was Congress who were the people that needed to be involved. They were onboard thanks to Christopher Mellon and Elizondo, requesting official investigation and demanding answers. With Congress pushing hard for the creation of a task force we knew this was the first step on a long journey towards disclosure. On the 4th of August 2020, the then Deputy Secretary of Defense Mr. David Norquist gave the long-awaited approval for UAPTF which would be disclosed on Friday the 14th of August (1).
