ZAMIR GLANCES AT MY screen with a curious expression. His lips smack together. “Of course, he’s messaging you. Shouldn’t he somewhere shagging a bird?”

My lips press together as I put my phone back in my pocket. If I reply right now, Zamir may have a come apart. “What is going on with you two?”

“More like what’s going on with you two?” Zamir counters in a hardened voice.

“I’ve told you already, Miguel and I are just friends. Is that why you’re mad at him?”

“I’m not mad at him,” Zamir grumbles. “I’m annoyed.”

“Why?”

He eyes the driver suspiciously before shaking his head. “We’ll talk about it later.” He leans forward and taps the man on the shoulder. “Hey mate, can you stop at Tommi’s?” When the driver nods his head in confirmation, Zamir pulls out his cell phone. “I’ll do an order for pickup.” Something is bothering him. I’m sure it has something to do with Miguel and me being friends. Although I’m not sure why Zamir would have a problem with that.
