Chapter 13

Relaxing Time

Chase

The little kitten Jason found on his front step was adorable.

We got some posters made up, and when the rain had stopped, went around the neighborhood putting them up. I knew Jason was hoping no one would come forward and claim the kitten; to be completely honest, I agreed.

It was good to actually spend several days with him without worrying about me heading off to base. It was unplanned and I needed to pick up a change of clothing at the house.

I double checked my bag to make sure that I had everything I’d need for the next few days before I zipped it up and walked out of my room. The guys sat in the living room watching TV.

“Hey Chase; how long you gonna be at Jason’s?” chuckled Gil.

“’Til he kicks me out. I’ll probably be gone a few days. It’s not like I’m moving in with him or anything.” I couldn’t hold in the chuckle.

“You might as well; it’s not like you have anything holding you back, now,” said Ken.

“We’ve only been together a couple of months, and I don’t want to rush things.”

“You guys were made for each other. We won’t hassle you about it. Talk to him and see what his thoughts are. Maybe it won’t be right away, but it’s something to seriously think about. After all, he’s about to be a daddy, and if he gets his way he’s gonna need some help,” said Gil.

“I’ll think about talking to him, but that’s all I can promise. If anything comes up, you know where I am and how to get in touch with me.”

On my way to Jason’s house, I stopped at the florist and picked up a bouquet of tulips. There’s just something that pulls on me to spoil him in every way possible. I loved to see him smile, and I’d do anything to put that smile on his face. I knew he loved flowers, so that’s what I did.

When I got to his place, I noticed some muddy footprints going up his walkway, but I knew they weren’t his because they were actually paw prints, and they went all the way up to the door. I wondered if another cat had shown up or if the kitten had gotten out.

He answered the door on my first knock.

“Meeow.”

I looked down and saw the kitten rubbing up against Jason’s legs.

“Hey.” I leaned in and kissed him then gave him the flowers and walked into the house as he stepped to the side.

The kitten ran into the living room, and there I saw a bigger cat curled up on the couch. A beautiful black and brown calico color. The kitten leaped onto the couch and curled up next to the larger cat; this was probably the kitten’s mother.

“You found another cat?”

“I was outside with the kitten and this one came up to us. She started rubbing on my legs before going over to lick the kitten. I then knew she was his mom, so I brought her inside as well.
