âDavey,â called Luna from the direction of the kitchen, âYour mom called for you again today. You better call her back, or sheâs going to think I didnât give you the message. Dâyou hear me?â I was about to reply, but she was already on her way out. âIâll see you boys tomorrow.â
It was quiet when she left. There always seems to be a disturbance in the atmosphere immediately after she leaves, followed by an intense, sexually charged silence. Today it was just quiet. Not charged. We were both feeling satiated from the pit stop we made in the veld on the way home. We took turns blowing each other. I blew him first. My lips were still tingling from the friction and my mouth was filled with the taste of him as I leant back against the Hilux and fed him my cock. He looked so beautiful on his knees in front of me. I came fast, and I didnât apologise for it.
With that out of the way, I had a clear head. Luna was right; I did need to call my parents. It had been a while since Iâd called them. A long while. Theyâd probably be getting worried about me. Iâve spoken to them less and less and our conversations have been shorter each time since this thing with Jonathan started. Itâs not just that I felt like I was lying by not telling them; itâs that I couldnât shake the feeling that theyâd hear the change in my voice. I hear it. I hear it all the time. Thereâs a tightness thatâs gone. A weight. A heaviness. I feel the absence of it in my chest, and I hear it when I speak. Even though Iâve never let them get to know all of me, my family do know me. They know me better than anyone.
âDo you think I should tell them?â I said.
He must have been lost in thought because he took a second to catch up. âTell who what?â
âMy parents. Should I tell them about thisâ¦about me?â
He smiled his slow smile and he looked at me kindly. âDavey, thatâs a question only you know the answer to.â
âI know,â I said quickly, âbut what would you do?â
âIt doesnât matter what Iâd do. It only matters what you think is right for you.â
I sighed deeply. âCome on. Just tell what you think I should do.â
âI think you know what you want to do.â
I walked over to him. He was standing with his arms at his sides. Open. Approachable. I walked into his chest and whispered my greatest fear straight to his heart. âDo you think theyâll still love me?â
He was still for a moment. I could hear his heartbeat. It was steady. He cupped my chin and raised it so I was looking into his eyes. There was not a shadow of doubt in them. âTheyâll be fine. In fact, Iâll bet you twenty rand theyâll be fine with it.â
âTwenty rand?â I couldnât help smiling when I did the conversion.
