ghost story
For Nininger, the moniker âghost townâ doesnât just mean it has been abandoned. According to some people, real ghosts roam the area that was once a bustling town of 1,000 people. Nowhere are these ghosts seen and heard more often than at the site where the townâs most famous resident lived.
The most often reported story in the little grove that once held Donnellyâs home is that strange, ghostly lights float around amongst the trees. Some report that these balls of light look like 19th-century lanterns roaming around, but other reports say they look more like floating balls of energy. Sometimes, these balls of light manifest in different colors, such as orange or red. No source is ever discovered for these mysterious lights. Other people in the area report a presence whether they are there during the day or the night. They feel as if they are being watched or followed throughout the area. Sometimes, people even hear footsteps behind them and will turn around to find no one there.
