After stopping by Grind House to get her credentials, Ansley made her way to the event at the Compound. She wore a pair of red pumps, cropped, distressed denim jeans that hugged her full hips and accentuated her firm behind, and a black and white, off the shoulder top. She dressed up the outfit with multi-colored bangle and some eighties inspired door-knocker earrings. She styled her hair in a pompadour, and her makeup was natural using earth tones that made her skin tone shimmer.

Ansley took in the crowd. The Who’s Who of Atlanta were mingling in every corner of the room, including Simeon. Ansley was not surprised to see her nor was she shocked to see her on the arm of a player for the Atlanta Falcons.

Their eyes locked and Ansley waved over at Simeon. She flashed her press pass to let Simeon know that she was working.

Ansley located her entourage, and found the man of the hour, Joseph Baptiste.

They were able to get several sound bites and enough dialogue for live footage and a spotlight in the upcoming issue. She made her rounds and interviewed several others in the building for potential features in the future.

Two hours later, Ansley was finally off the clock and just wanted to unwind. Simeon seemed into her date, so she decided to give her friend some space.

“Ansley…”

She turned around to face Davis. “What are you doing here?”

They embraced.

He looked handsome as ever, wearing a short-sleeve black button down shirt, exposing his firm arms and chest tucked into a pair of stone-washed denim jeans. His cologne held her captive.

Before Davis could respond, another voice caught Ansley’s attention. She turned to face her ex.

“I guess I need to go play the Georgia lottery because there’s no way that I’m this lucky,” Ryan said with a laugh. “This is a pleasant surprise.”

“Hey, Ryan,” she said accepting a hug from him.

“Are you solo tonight or is Simeon your plus one?”

“No, she’s not alone,” Davis stated. “Come on, Ansley, we need to talk.” He guided Ansley away from Ryan and toward the exit.

She looked over her shoulder and mouthed, “I’m sorry,” to a bewildered Ryan.

Once outside, Davis turned to look at her, but his face was unreadable. She approached him unsure of what to expect once their eyes met.

“Is that him?” he growled.

“If you mean my ex, yes that’s him.”

“I guess that’s why you won’t give me a fair chance. This isn’t about Simeon at all.”

“Whoa. I told you I haven’t spoken to him like that. You’re bugging out right now and it’s unwarranted.”

“My feelings are validated. I’m falling for you. No, I haven’t said it in so many words, but you have to feel that and this run around you keep giving me. Come on man.”

Ansley stood with her hands at her side and her mouth agape. He couldn’t possibly be jealous of Ryan. Could he?

“Do you want him back?” He looked downward, and backed away.

She walked into his space and took his face into her hands.
