Sunday Morning

"Morning, Dad!" Ryan said, coming into the cafeteria with Noje and Pisti to either side, an arm around each one, and all three of them in their hybrid forms.

"So much for the power of my skeptical looks," Sean said with an exaggerated sigh.

"Morning, Dad," Noje and Pisti said, coming over and giving their father a kiss on the cheek, then hugging each of the mothers in turn.

"Now, sit, and we'll go get breakfast," Noje told Ryan.

"I thought there was a waitress?" Ryan said, looking confused.

"Not today!" Pisti said with a smirk.

Ryan stopped and blinked. "Oh!"

"So, got any others lined up?" Peg asked with a smile.

"Umm… in my defense, all my plans have been thoroughly and utterly destroyed."

"And you're loving every minute of it?" Deidre teased.

"Like I never, ever thought I could," Ryan agreed happily.

"Morning, everyone," Elpis said, yawning, and Craig, Ian, Cyra, Samantha, and John following her as she came in to the cafeteria and dropped into a seat at a nearby table.

"Where's Beth, Shar, Harm, Penny, and John?" Roxy asked.

"Next elevator."

"Oh, right, skyscraper."

"Ah, good, we didn't miss the show!" Harmony teased as the others came in a moment later and found seats.

"Careful, young lady, or you might find yourself a part of it," Deidre warned with a warm smile.

"Oh, I'm hoping. I just don't know if it'll end up being this one!" Harmony replied cheerfully.

Just then, Noje and Pisti came in, set two very large plates of food down in front of Ryan, then quickly sat to either side of him and started eating from his plates. Ryan didn't even try to pick up a fork, instead purring so loudly, the silverware on the table looked like it was threatening to vibrate as well.

"Oh, I need to do that, JJ!" Penny said and, jumping up, ran into the kitchen.

"I thought she knew…?" Harmony asked, looking at Jack.

"She's only gotten to do it twice so far. She wants to enjoy it before it gets old," Jack said, staring after Penny with a hungry smile.

"It never gets old, trust me," Cali replied with a wink.

"So what's everyone's plans for today?" Roxy asked, while noticing the very intense, conflicted look on her daughter Cyra's face as she watched Ryan and her two sisters.

"We were hoping to drag Chloë, Nadinc, Mira, and Healy off to a show and do a little sight-seeing," Samantha said. "Spending some time with them and doing what we can to try and make them less anxious as the clock ticks down and all that."

"Wow, and here I thought my daughter was totally oblivious to the world around her," Sean said with a smirk.

"Most of the time, we are," John admitted with an embarrassed look, "but we make it a point now to get involved when something bad happens, after what happened to Mike."

"Oh?"

Samantha nodded. "We shoulda' helped. He's my brother, and John grew up with him. I doubt we could have changed anything, but still, we dropped the ball, and we should have done better."
