“And we were allowed to put whatever we wanted on our sundaes, even those little rainbow sprinkles,” Max said excitedly.

“No way! That sounds like a really cool party. Did you remember to brush your teeth after all that sugar?” I asked.

“I didn’t want to, but Dylan said all my teeth would fall out of my head if I didn’t,” he admitted

“Well, I don’t know about all your teeth, but Dylan’s right, you have to take good care of your teeth if you want them to stay healthy,” Lachlan told him.

Max sighed. “I figured you’d say that.” My eyes caught Lachlan’s and I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.

“Is Dylan there?” Lachlan asked.

“No, Andrew picked him up for school already. Dylan was being so weird this morning.”

“Weird, how?” I hedged.

“He changed his clothes like three times, and he put all this goop in his hair and then he sprayed that stuff all over him that you wear when you and Daddy go out on dates,” he explained.

Lachlan and I shared a knowing grin, but before we could say anything, he announced that Benjamin was ready to take him to school. After several goodbyes and I love yous and promises that he would be good for Kerry and Benjamin, we hung up.

“What’s wrong?” Lachlan asked.

I scrunched up my face. “I don’t know. Part of me is happy for Dylan that he’s met a boy he likes, but the other part of me feels sad and I don’t know why.”

Lachlan put his arm around my shoulder and kissed my temple. “It makes perfect sense actually. We are both proud of the man he’s becoming but that doesn’t make it any easier to let go.”

“It fucking sucks. Why does parenting have to hurt so bad?” I pouted.

“I don’t know, honey. It does suck, but at least we get to do it together. There is no one I’d rather be a parent with, than you.”

His words made me smile. “I feel the same. You know what else I like to do with you?”

Lachlan glanced at his watch then back at me. “Umm. As much as I’d love to, I’m not sure we really have time for that right now. We’re supposed to meet the other guys downstairs in five minutes.”

I laughed. “Well, yes, I do love doing that with you too, but I was actually talking about kissing,” I explained.

“Oh, we definitely have time for that,” he said with a smile. Six minutes later, with swollen lips and a hard on that I discreetly tried to adjust in my pants, I followed Lachlan downstairs.

“You’re late,” Carter said with a smirk as he zeroed in on my hand. Apparently, I hadn’t been as discreet as I’d hoped.

I flipped him my middle finger. “Are we gonna get going or did you want to stand around and talk about my cock? Because trust me, it would be a long talk.” Carter busted out laughing while Lachlan turned to me with an incredulous look as if he thought maybe I’d lost my mind.
