Chapter ten
Day 26, Sex
I can feel the air touch my sides, as if there was a lover beside me, flying with me.
Who would I imagine? A thought springs to mind. Someone like me. Someone who matches me.
He would be the darkness, with a touch of color to match me.
He would be my love and my future.
We would fly up into the sky, our wings powerful. Our hearts singing together.
Never standing on that cliff again. Not knowing who we are.
But⦠then it ends. These dreams always end.
I had gone to bed soon after Ryan had dropped me off at home.
He hadnât even gotten out of the car, figuringâprobablyâthat I would want more alone time. I had wanted that. And, yet, I had not.
While I welcomed the quiet of my house, I felt agitated. Unsettled. I watched the opening scenes of a movie I had wanted to see but then turned it off after a few minutes because it bored me. The book I was reading couldn't hold my attention. I wasnât hungry, but I still looked for something to nibble on in my kitchen.
When I eyed the scotch, I realized I was trying to fix something inside me that food, drink, or even time by myself couldnât fix.
I couldnât call Ryan. Well, I could, and he would answer, but I wasnât sure what I wanted to talk to him about. If I even wanted to talk to him.
My insecurities were bubbling up to the surface with this therapy and I couldnât figure out if this was a good thing or not.
So I went to bed.
It took a while before I fell into a fitful sleep, but it must have been just after midnight when I woke suddenly.
One hand wrapped a blindfold over my eyes, while another set of hands held mine in front of me. Someone shoved a cloth into my mouth after I opened it to yell out at the intrusion. They tied my arms and legs against my sides before lifting me off my bed.
There had to have been at least three people holding me, probably men, but I couldnât tell. I just knew they were strong, since they carried me with ease. They rushed out of my house and placed me into a large vehicle, one which allowed me to be placed lying down on one seat, alone. Even while frightened, I knew I heard the click of the lock on my front door, which seemed strange.
Why would they break in, kidnap me, but then remember to lock the door when they left? I couldnât wrap my head around that.
The men got into the car, someone wrapping a seatbelt or harness around me so I wouldnât slide off the seat. No one got in beside me. My spidey-sense told me there were two people in the front, and it felt like one might have squeezed into the seat behind me.
I almost couldn't hear over the thundering of my heart.
Who were these people? Where were they taking me? Would
