Estimated cost, in millions of dollars, to install security upgrades to the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem, now that it is the U.S. embassy

On May 14, Ivanka Trump, U.S. presidential adviser, unveiled a plaque bearing her father’s name on the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem. The relocation from Tel Aviv fulfilled his campaign pledge to recognize the city as the nation’s capital; it was hailed by some 800 U.S. and Israeli religious conservatives and right-wing politicians who attended, and by Israel’s PM, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, on the border of the Gaza Strip, some 60 Palestinians protesting the move died in clashes with Israeli troops.
