“We’re looking at Thursday evening now.”

“Okay.”

“I hope you aren’t too lonely there. I know how quiet the house can be.”

“Maggie spent the night with me last night, and I'm sure Malcolm will keep me company this week. Plus, I've got about twenty dogs here. I think it would be impossible to be lonely.”

They both chuckled and said their goodbyes. Angie hung up the phone and turned to see Maggie looking at her.

“You really aren't going to tell him?”

“I'll tell him when he gets back,” Angie said with a shrug, feeling somewhat defensive. “I don't want to worry him, not while he and my mom are down there trying to figure things out. He wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway, and it would just make the trip worse for them.”
