—Lucinda Gould (1807–1900), Henniker, New Hampshire. She stitched this sampler, which included two alphabets and a simple border of vines and flowers, when she was thirteen. Ten years later, she married Abel Willard Kent. They had two daughters, but her husband died a few years later. In 1850 she married again and settled in Wilton, New Hampshire. When she died, in 1900, she was living alone.
