Mabelâs Journal
I havenât read any more of the book for a week or so, because Iâve been reflecting on everything I have changed so far. Janet says at the beginning that itâs not a novel and to read it at your own pace, but I have realized thereâs a big difference between reading it and doing it, so Iâm going to make a more concerted effort to do stuff. Wrote this on a piece of paper today: âThe Mind Is What the Brain Doesâ and stuck it on the fridge. My brain is âdoingâ slim!!
Itâs funny that this chapter is about attitude â as I read it today, I realized how much my attitude has, and still is, changing â not just toward how Iâm changing what I eat naturally (I still havenât got to the diet bit!). Iâm definitely moving more (have been for three walks this week and am a few steps closer to the slim me who walks just ahead!).
When I look back at my life and all the people who told me I couldnât do this or I couldnât do that, it occurs to me⦠what if they were wrong??? Where would I be if I had believed from a young age that I could achieve whatever I wanted (like Jodie Foster)? Thank God itâs not too late. Thought for the day: âItâs never too late to undo a negative suggestion â especially if itâs someone elseâs SHIT!â
If a man can walk again after breaking his neck twice, and if a man can teach his son to hear when he has no functional ears or mechanism to hear, then I can CERTAINLY change how I think and behave â and be slim! I can also be more confident in myself and get a better job â Iâm fed up with settling for less.
Did the positive anchor exercise today. Not sure how well it worked, or if it will last, so I need to try it out. But it did feel really good when I did it! Remembered the day I passed my driving test! That felt really good because it gave me complete freedom and independence. Perhaps being slim will do the same???
