CHAPTER 19
Delores pulled into the Regency Tower Parking lot. The blue Caddie Seville that she had parked next to the first time she came wasnât there; the clerk told her the car belonged to a guy named Michael. Delores looked over at the store. She didnât see Kim anywhere in the store. She saw an older, clean-cut man, with white hair, and a tie. Delores figured him to be the store manager. Delores waited in her car, on the parking lot for a little over an hour. She didnât see Michael Fitzgerald coming out or going in the building. The blue Caddie never showed up either. Delores had no intentions of asking the store manager. She was patient and figured that sheâll just come back another day. Sooner or later her luck would change. She felt that her winning hand was on the way. She pulled out of the parking lot and headed home.
Delores did her usual routine; the plant feeding, frozen meal eating, and the Lifetime for women watching. After her usual, she bathed and called it the night.
After work, Michael stopped by his niece Keishaâs house. He met Keishaâs boyfriend, Chavis, the father of her unborn child. They all sat and talked for a while. Michael told them that he was going home to shower and get ready for another day. Keisha and Chavis walked him to the door. Michael was happy for Keisha and Chavis. He told them to never let anybody try to break them apart then Michael left. Instead of going straight home from his nieceâs; he decided to just drive along RT. 40 with the car windows down. He wanted to get good and tired, so he didnât have to toss and turn in his sleep. He drove along the bay that was to the right of the highway. The sun was starting to go down. Half of it appeared to be sticking out of the far side of the bay, slowly hiding itself, until it was ready to show its face, to bring in a new morning in hours to come.
During this time of year, darkness comes around 6:15pm. The air starts to chill and people are running back and forth doing some holiday shopping. Michael took the overpass turn so he could make his U-turn. He headed home. Evenings like this one reminded Michael of how lonely he really was; a chilly evening when he could cuddle up with the one he loves. He hoped that one day he would get that part of his life back in order. The time had to be right and the person too. Michael saw the sign and he felt the feeling. He had even seen the woman. All Michael could do now, was to wait it out and let it happen. Let nature take its course. âIs it you Mrs. Dee? Is it you? Michael pulled onto his parking lot and went up to his apartment.
