Thousands of years ago, my people, from the outskirts of Earthâs dimension, were at war with the same creatures that plague this island today. Fleeing for their lives, a small spacecraft full of refugees abandoned my home planet in search of a new place to live peacefully without war, without pain, and, most importantly, without evil.
So, for hundreds of years, they drifted through space using technology foreign to Earth, crossing between dimensions in search of a habitable planet. To their shock, this proved fruitless. The universe was still relatively young. If a world had life, it was at war like their home planet.
On the brink of starvation, their radar picked up an energy source like none theyâd seen in the cosmos. It was more than just a livable ecosystem â it was celestial.
Their radar led them to the heart of an island â the same island weâre on now â where energy, in the form of water, flowed from out of the earth.
The water was life itself. Whoever drank of it was healed of all ailments, including age. It was truly a pool of immortality as long as you lived under its magic. Now my ancestors could finally live in peace.
After many years, years without pain, sadness, and death, settlers arrived on the island. We graciously accepted their people and offered to share the islandâs fruits, but if history has taught us one thing, itâs that where mankind walks, evil lingers nearby, slithering unseen, waiting for an opportunity to pounce.
Despite our best efforts to keep peace, they waged war, leaving us no choice but to put an end to them. After that war ended, another soon began, then again, and again.
It was a constant invasion of explorers, soldiers, pirates, whoever. Inevitably, all attacks failed â the water made my people invincible.
But one fateful day, our enemy, the one who initially forced us from our home planet, arrived from another dimension to take the powers of immortality for themselves.
We managed to win the war, but it came with a price. You see, the water gives one life as long as they are alive. Once they are dead, they are beyond saving. Even with the magical water, we lost nearly everyone. If our enemy or a powerful human army returned, we would face extinction.
This land was now condemned, incapable of redemption. Having no other choice, we buried the fountain and, like before, drifted back through space in search of another home, one unblemished by darkness where we could live in peace.
