What about the planets?

Since the planets are always in motion (from the Greek: planetes—wanderer), their location in the sky varies year to year. You can usually find the rise and set times for Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in any local paper. These planets can be seen with the naked eye. Of course, sometimes they’re up in the daytime only and not visible. The planets beyond Saturn—Uranus and Neptune (Pluto was demoted in 2006)—can only be seen through a telescope. Mercury is nearly impossible to see because it’s always so close to the sun. Venus is easier and moving fast enough that you might note its motion if you get to see it on several nights.
