Officer Noonan was met with his partner, Officer Hobbs and two others. They split up and began canvassing all the extras, actors, and any others present on the movie set. In total, there were about forty people that needed to be questioned. Noonan started with a couple of extras. The first few were clean, they were simply waiting for their cue to peruse the store, but one guy caught Noonan’s attention pretty fast after asking him a few questions.

“Name, sir,” Noonan asked, after clearing the others in his group of five extras.

“Darryl Mattlin.”

“What is your function here today?”

“I’m an extra in the café scene.”

“Did anything unusual occur today?”

Darryl hesitated, almost jokingly. “Kind of,” he said, as though he was about to rat someone out for a joke that wasn’t funny anymore.

“What do you mean?” Noonan placed his hands on his sides and looking directly at Darryl.

Darryl chuckled. “I don’t know. Some guy paid me fifty bucks for my jacket and gloves,” he explained, putting his hands out like it was no big deal. “He said he was with the wardrobe people and they messed up Drake’s jacket. He said they were supposed to fit him for something else. He said my jacket was perfect.”

“What kind of jacket did you have?”

“It was a nice one. A Mansfield. One of those reversible types, you know?”

“What did he look like?”

“Just a regular guy. Dressed nice like all of us.” Darryl gestured to the crowd. “He was wearing a Mansfield ID tag, so I figured he must be telling the truth.”

“Isn’t a nice jacket worth more than fifty bucks?” Noonan asked, suspicious.

“Hey, we’re all clothed for free here.” Darryl bent toward Noonan and covered his mouth with the side of his hand, like he was about to tell a secret. “We’re not allowed to keep the clothes. So I figured hey, why not make an extra fifty bucks today? The pay here isn’t great, you know.”

Noonan pursed his lips. “Would you be able to describe this guy to a sketch artist?”

“Sure,” Darryl said. “Do I get to keep the fifty bucks?”
