41, 42. Wieldiness of the mental factors and of consciousness (kammaññatā)
Wieldiness, sometimes translated as adaptability or workability, removes unwieldiness of consciousness and its concomitants. It manifests as easy and successful functioning of the mind. It is the opposite of desire, anger and other mental states that reduce the flexibility of the mind, such as dullness and stinginess.
43, 44. Proficiency of the mental factors and of consciousness (pāguññatā)
The characteristic of this mental factor is the sense of having a strong or healthy mind: we feel strong and fit, and we are able to cope with sources of stress. Its function is to increase health, and proficiency is manifested as the absence of disability. It is the opposite of doubt.
