Thank God that He works behind the scenes for you. Thank Him for what He is doing today to grow your faith and intimacy with Him. Affirm your faith in His work and your readiness to see and hear what He is doing.

Life Choices

• Study Psalm 139:13–15, Luke 1:76–80, and Hebrews 5:8–9. How does knowing that God is working in secret encourage your faith? How were Jesus, John the Baptist, and Moses prepared by God to do His will? Why is silent time so important for us when we’re feeling loss?

• Understand that we grow spiritually in the wilderness. We must get up every morning expecting God’s breakthrough, and if it doesn’t come, we must know that He’s still working. Know that Jesus waited thirty years before God’s time for Him was right. Moses waited forty. Growth comes from being in the wilderness and letting God work in secret.

• Discover that in the silent years, we need to see God. We need to use the time to become intimate with Him. Like Moses, we may not see God coming, but we know He’s there. How? Intimacy with Him. Trust in Him. Discover both and welcome His silence.
