I climbed into the truck and closed my eyes. Ethan, Carlos, Lyric, and Musky all got their wishes. I looked at Huxley, and my neck felt tickly.

If he actually was magic, I could wish too. I didn’t want to believe it, but maybe if I just told Huxley what I really wanted, he could make it happen. I could move to Lincoln. Everything would be better. I got a warm, floaty feeling. I sat up straighter and laughed out loud. Sitting in the Rooster next to a maybe-magic bear, surrounded by people practicing circus acts, I felt closer to normal than I had in a long time.
