Angrily, Aurora stalked into the ballroom to find Callum standing in the middle of it while servants bustled around to get it ready for tomorrow night’s ball. The first thing she thought about when she woke up this morning was the same thing she went to sleep thinking about last night: Callum was still hiding something about the bargain and this entire ordeal from her. And it made her angry.

“Good morning. We don’t look so happy this morning, do we?” Callum greeted her with a smirk. Aurora flashed a fake toothy smile but said nothing in response. “If you’re expecting to practice dancing while you’re feeling like that, I’ll tell you know it will not be very pretty. Why are you so upset?” Callum then asked.

“I’m not upset,” Aurora lied, trying to keep the smile on her face. She knew it wasn’t very convincing. He narrowed his eyes at her.

“Is this about the training yesterday...?” the Unseelie King trailed off. Aurora couldn’t help the outraged laugh that bubbled from her throat.

“Yeah, sure, I’m this angry over a training session,” she responded.

“Well, I don’t know what else it would be. You seemed fine when we parted ways last night,” Callum mumbled.

“Shut up and just teach me the dances,” Aurora hissed. The amused look on Callum's face vanished and he raised an eyebrow at her.

“Did you just tell me to shut up?” he questioned, amazed that the words came out of her mouth.

“Yes, I did. I’m not in the mood for your playful banter this morning, Your Majesty, so if you would just teach me the dances so I can be out of your presence as soon as possible, that would be great.” She then placed her arms in the position she would need to for him to step into them and assume his role as the lead.

Instead of joining hands with her to begin the dance, though, Callum grabbed one of her wrists and yanked her close to him.

“Do not forget who you are talking to and working for, princess. You will not talk to me like that in my own court. Now, by the saints, tell me what is making you so angry this morning when nothing has happened to make you act so,” the King hissed into Aurora’s face.

She yanked her wrist free from his grip, then started advancing on him as she spoke, poking him in the chest with each of her words.

“You. Are still. Keeping secrets. From me. And I don’t know how you expect me to help you when all I can think about is the fact that you’re going to screw me over at the end of this,” she couldn’t help but spit the words out at him as she backed him all the way against one of the ballroom walls.

All the servants stopped and stared in awe at the scene unfolding before them. The Unseelie King only had to give them a tight-lipped glance, and they all went scattering out of the room in a matter of seconds.
