A VISIT TO THE PRINCIPAL

During music I made Mrs. Tozer mad. That was too bad, because I really like her, even though she is a terrible music teacher. She is the only person I know who sings worse than my dad. When Dad sings, Boris howls like he’s in PAIN.

“This is a new song, class, so I’m going to sing the chorus and I’ll get each of you to repeat it after me. David, you first,” said Mrs. Tozer, smiling at me.

Mrs. Tozer sang the chorus. “Now you try, David.”

I copied Mrs. Tozer exactly. Where she’d gone up, I went up. Where she’d gone down, I went down. Where her voice wobbled, my voice wobbled. Before I finished, the class was laughing and Mrs. Tozer asked me to STOP.
