Dantrell wanted to make friends with kids who lived near him. But there was a problem. Dantrell had behavior challenges. He was known for getting into trouble. Some parents didn’t want him to play with their kids. Dantrell felt awful about this. He was working hard to make better choices. His teacher suggested that he try helping out some of the parents. That way, they would see that Dantrell was really changing his behavior.

Dantrell started offering to carry in groceries. He opened doors for people when they went in and out. He picked up things for people if they dropped them. He said hello to people and used his conversation skills. Word about “the new Dantrell” started to spread around the neighborhood. A couple of the parents started being nicer to him. After a while, they let him come over and play with their kids.
