The Norwegians

Andréas used the next day for exploring. He had forty-eight hours before he needed to get back to Adil and he would use them to try to locate the smugglers’ pick-up point. On the morning call, Nick shared what he had learned from Bel. Now, Andréas knew the passengers had been taken from a beach to a larger boat, moored offshore. It helped. He needed to focus on the coves. The location would have to be near the road and there would have to be a walkable road or track so the twenty or so people could make it down to the shore. It would have to be out of sight of any houses likely to be occupied. And west of the city would be nearer the ultimate destination, though that was less of an issue.

He returned to Google Earth and to the string of coves between Atakent and Kizkalesi. The geography looked helpful. In some cases, it would be possible for the main boat to moor around a headland, out of sight of the cove, and send in a smaller boat, probably a rigid inflatable boat, or RIB, to collect the passengers.

There was some tourist development, here and there, but it looked avoidable and maybe it would be unoccupied anyway, in late September. There was only one way to be sure, he thought, finishing the rest of his coffee. He would have to narrow his focus.
