Why would the king cast away his own potion Master? Camille still had no idea, but it promised to be interesting. If there was a thing Camille knew in all of her years of spying, it was the smell of juicy gossip. And this smelled like a treat for the little spy that she was.

In preparation for going back to the slums where Princess Elena had assured her the potion Master was hiding, Camille had tried to train the princess, but it was a lost cause. First, Camille wasn’t really trained either. She had just picked up small habits with daggers and had good reflexes, most of the time she only relied on her earth power to get herself out of any situation. Second, Princess Elena was a lovely flower, and she had the reflexes of one—which meant none. She was gracious, yes, but she couldn’t move quickly even if her life depended on it. She could run, but it was the end of her skills. She would never be a fighter.

They were lucky that on the only two occasions they went back to the slums again they hadn’t met anyone like the first night, because, after a few days, Camille had given up. She would just have to stay ready for the two of them.
