The resort catered for the masses. It was where ordinary people went when they wanted to give themselves a treat. Most arrived in buses. A few came in cars. Some put on the old-fashioned spa gowns, supplied by the management. Most kept to their ordinary clothes. Men in tracksuits rubbed shoulders with men in golfing gear. Women in jeans mingled with women in evening dresses. No one wore suits.

Hanna and Kim returned to their room to dress for dinner. Neither spoke. They figured the room was bugged and had no desire to acquaint Jung with their plans to depart his company. They had to be ready to leave at any moment and that meant putting on the right clothes.

Escape in the Toyota was ruled out. They weren’t going to take chances with a vehicle that might have been sabotaged. Their best bet was to escape on foot and head for the hills. The Yakuza were city types and so were the Jopok. They weren’t going to trudge after them over rough ground along unmarked tracks.

Kim slipped his gun into his jacket pocket and Hanna did the same with hers. The final touch was to put on the spa gowns supplied by the hotel. They reached well below the knees. Hanna glanced at herself in the mirror and was satisfied with the result. Her hiking boots and waterproof trousers struck a discordant note but that didn’t matter. A lot of people were wearing an odd assortment of clothes.
