Chapter 12

The Smelly Dungeons of Egorias

Jason and his friends are now really desperate to escape but cannot even think to themselves for a moment, due to the incessant deafening noise outside their cell. They are all weary, hungry and exhausted, and cannot possibly get any sleep, due to Badaggro’s mad party going on and on. It is absolute pandemonium all around Egorias.

‘This is blooming terrible,’ Agnes comments in a disgruntled manner, now totally disheartened and disillusioned.

Raymond jumps in. ‘Here we all are together tired, drained, dirty and hungry, and they are all having a party, drinking and eating their fill. What could be a worse situation than this?’

‘Do not despair, everyone. I have a plan,’ Jason reassuringly suggests, a serious glint appearing in his eye. ‘Let me explain. This party is going to go on and on, and in the end must actually finish sometime.’

‘Yes, yes, Jason. So get to the point,’ Agnes asks.

‘When the party does finally end, we will seize our opportunity to escape. The Slavecocks will in the end be really drunk, tired and exhausted.’

‘What a great idea, Jason, but it is not as if we can just get up and walk out of the door of this rotten-to-the-core dungeon, now, is it?’ moody and grumpy William suggests.

‘You are of course so right, William, but please bear with me on this one. Give me your total support, and leave the problem of the opening of the dungeon door specifically to me.’

‘I would do absolutely anything to get out of here, and I mean anything,’ William replies, getting rather desperate.

‘We all want out of here. Please let’s give Jason a chance, for God’s sake, William,’ Agnes retorts, now getting agitated and impatient.

‘Please try and get some rest, everyone. I have the strangest of feelings that we are in for a very difficult and long night ahead of us,’ Jason explains, trying to settle everyone down and calm the critical situation they find themselves in.

The party goes on and on. The deafening noise is incessant. It is beginning to drive them all nearly mad. It goes on and on, and never seems to be coming to an eagerly awaited end. Constant shouting, laughing, dancing and singing are driving them up the wall.

A little later, Sandra interrupts Jason and William, who are chit-chatting together in the corner of the dungeon.

‘Shoosh! Wait a minute. Can you hear that?’ she asks, deep in concentration.

‘Hear what?’ William replies. ‘I cannot hear a bloomin’ thing, woman.’

‘That’s what I mean. You now cannot hear anything whatsoever.’

‘Yes! You are so very right, Sandra,’ Maridoor agrees, bringing a cautious little smile to his face.

‘Sandra, could you please possibly pop your head up, and look through the cell viewing porch on the door? See if you can see anything or anyone outside,’ Jason politely asks, getting more confident by the second.

‘Sure! No problem,’ Sandra helpfully replies. She immediately looks through the viewing porch of the dungeon door, instantly focusing her deep blue eyes on the courtyard outside. She is quickly analysing as much as she possibly can.
