EVANGELIST, PASTORAL AND TEACHING ANOINTINGS

Evangelists, pastors and teachers can all be spiritual fathers and mothers and release impartation to others as well. Evangelists carry an anointing to reach the lost and birth souls into the Kingdom. Pastors carry the anointing to shepherd the sheep. They have a grace to care for people’s personal issues in life. They have a grace to help the sheep be fed properly and help them stay in the house of God, not run away and get lost. Teachers carry an anointing to understand the Word of God and help believers hear God’s voice in His Word. This anointing helps people grow spiritually.

Pastors, evangelists and teachers carry the anointing to impart to other pastors, evangelists and teachers, and to impart to other members of the Body of Christ. Only apostles and prophets carry the grace to anoint all five offices of ministry and impart all the gifts and anointing needed to minister in those offices. This is because, as we saw earlier, apostles and prophets are the foundation of the Body of Christ, with Christ Jesus as the chief cornerstone (see again Ephesians 2:19–20). So if you are called to be an apostle or prophet and God is calling you to receive impartation, you would need to receive it from an apostle or a prophet.

God has different assignments for different people, but it all has to do with advancing His Kingdom. God gave Elijah a vision, and when Elijah’s time on earth was ending, God then called Elisha to help carry and fulfill this vision. Be open to whatever God’s assignment is for you. Many times when God gives someone visions and dreams, those are fulfilled after that person helps fulfill a vision God gave someone else. Elisha walked in signs, wonders and miracles because he first obeyed when God told him to serve Elijah. If you have visions that God will do many miracles through you, it doesn’t always mean you are to start a ministry immediately. Many times, the journey to reach the vision God gave you begins with serving another vessel or ministry operating in miracles. That is the way anointing is released to you to see your dream come to pass.

Pay attention to where God is impressing on your heart a certain passion. Is God impressing on you a passion to see others delivered and healed? Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to where God’s move of deliverance and healing is, and position yourself there to receive the anointing you need to help carry out this work of God.

If your passion is to evangelize, ask God where He is calling you to receive. He may be calling you to be positioned under another evangelist, or He may be calling you to bring your passion and gifting to a fivefold ministry church and be under an apostle or prophet to bring fullness to that work of God. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and ask Him, Lord, what work of yours do
