Mahina, Mariah and Moroccan were surrounded. Nakir had transported them to the edges of Highgate Cemetery shortly before the arrival of the other Alium so the silver-haired siblings had been able to secure their places in the crowd before it grew too large. They had taken a place near the front but set slightly back so as not to draw too much attention to themselves. Shortly after, hundreds of creatures arrived by portals and different entryways around the graveyard. Mariah and Moroccan could safely identify a few of the beings, such as the Werewolves, most of them had wild hair and all of them had the same neon yellow eyes. The Vampires were easily identifiable as most of them arrived when the area beneath the House in Highgate was cloaked in darkness, and the Faeries were unable to disguise their beauty from anyone. Other than that, however, the three siblings struggled to identify the different species. They were only sure that they were surrounded by Alium.
The clapping and the cheering began at the back of the crowd where they were the first to catch a glimpse of the small group on the terrace. The wave of cheers and applause grew closer and closer to Mahina, Mariah and Moroccan. Mariah looked up at the balcony emerging from the great glass house. She gasped as she saw the group, three vampires, two women with flaming hair, a man with eyes like emeralds, one with eyes like the ocean; a being covered in gold, a man with hair the colour of snow, a werewolf with bright yellow eyes and a gorgeous but terrifying woman with eyes like the night sky. From stories alone, she was recognisable as the Queen of Hell, Lilith. All but the gilded soldier were awash in brilliant red. Without tearing her eyes from the group on the balcony, Mariah took her hand and pointed out the group to her siblings.
âThank you, thank you.â Lilithâs icy voice washed over the crowd as she held up a hand, grateful for the warm welcome. She must have been using an enchantment to carry her voice to the entire gathering. After a few moments of more howling, clapping and cheering from the crowd, the noise died down. Lilith smiled, flashing her fangs quickly.
âWelcome, all of you. I appreciate you coming on such short notice, but of course, we had to be careful not to alert the Angels.â
Mariah was surprised by the surge of booing, jeering and hissing noises made by the groups around her at the mere mention of the warriors of Heaven. It was clear to her that one wrong move from the siblings; any slight example of Seraphic blood or power, and they would be in grave danger. Mariah took a deep breath as she tried to control her shaking, she hadnât expected to be so scared. Nakir hadnât explained how terrifying some of the Alium were. She jumped as a Drakaina. a woman with the lower half of a snake came near.
