Top bowhunters mark broadhead tipped arrows that fly true in practice for confidence and accuracy on the hunt, especially in areas like the Gulf Coast Region where earning a single shot at a mature buck might take all season.

HUNTING TIP: USE A GPS UNIT

Hunters traveling west to try their hand at elk or mule deer almost always carry a GPS unit. It makes sense considering the vastness of the west and the intimidation factor of the high country. Whitetail hunters don’t rely on these handy units nearly as much, but they should. Considering the type of cover and the vast, flat areas of the Gulf Coast Region, it can be easy to lose landmarks and become turned around. Or, once identified, a hotspot can disappear on a return trip because there are very few terrain features to mark. The same goes for the alder thickets of the Northern Woodlands and the swamps of the Southeastern Region. Like a personal protection firearm, it’s better to have a GPS and not need it, than need it and not have it. Waypoint your truck, your stand sites and fresh sign just in case.
