Kratoo couldn’t believe his good fortune when he found tracks on the second day climbing the mountainous region where he thought the human cemetery was located. Kratoo was brilliant for a goblin, and he understood that they could be someone else’s tracks, but as he studied them, he understood them to be the same as those he had tracked earlier. The footprints were lightweight, showing that none wore the region’s goblin hunters’ metal shirts. Also, most of the tracks were small for humans, making him believe they were primarily females, just like his missing party. Finally, and most importantly, the tracks were very fresh.

“What you find, Kratoo?” Gramous asked from behind.

“The missing humans!” Kratoo announced confidently.

Gramous came over beside the goblin and studied the prints. Finally, after a few moments of poking around the area, the ogre agreed. “Puny humans, with no metal sticks?” he asked to be sure.

Kratoo smiled and nodded, and Gramous returned the smile, showing off a set of brown and green teeth. “Bring the nets. We is close,” the ogre leader ordered.

Four teams of three goblins each ran up to stand beside their leader, each carrying a net large enough to entrap a human. Gramous smiled and nodded to Kratoo to lead the way. The proud goblin scout did just that, knowing that their prey was not far ahead.
