Fate and Karma
Thya didnât want to waste any more time, so they continued their journey at the crack of light. The valley of Imas lay between the mountains of Klon. Although the trek wasnât particularly hard, Somal was struggling. Thya did her best to walk at his pace. It hurt to see his strained face, and the panting and sweat mocked her. He was having a hard time and it was her fault. When Alkazar had asked him how he as doing, he was in so much pain he couldnât even speak. He grimaced what she supposed was meant to be a smile and waved his hand as though brushing the comment aside. He continued without complaint, but he needed aid quickly, and Thya needed some answers from the sorcerer.
Light was starting to fade so they made camp. Somal was finally getting some of the rest he needed but Thya was unable to sleep. She knew â no, she had always known, that she had killed Siren and her unborn child. Until now, she refused to accept or admit the truth. Alkazar had done a great job of tricking her into believing he had taken their lives, but only she could have burnt the Vultens alive. Where had this evil spirit that Alkazar spoken of come from? How was she supposed to control it, before she lost herself completely?
Each time she questioned herself, and blamed herself for the murders, she sank deeper into despair.
A Tril moon passed before they reached the border of Imas valley. Enir lived in the mountains of Klon, and Thya could see yellow lights flickering in the distance. It was high up, and she wasnât looking forward to the climb. She was tired mentally and physically and, if time wasnât pressing, she would have suggested making camp again.
There was just enough light left to see. No one spoke. She guessed the others were as exhausted as she was. Alkazar walked behind her. She turned her head now and again to look at him and was greeted with a smile or a wink. She had called him over earlier and asked why he wasnât walking beside her, only to learn that it wasnât allowed. No one could walk in front of her, which was a ridiculous rule, and she was quick to remind him that they were no longer in Tsinia
A Bora dressed in red trousers and a floor length jacket waited at the bottom of the jet-black mountain, ready to great them. âEnir the majestic awaits you,â he announced. âAccompany me.â
Thya nodded her acceptance and was the first to follow.
âSorcerer Enir expects us, how so?â Alkazar asked.
âEnir the majestic perceives all.â
âSo, your master is familiar with our plight?â Thya asked.
âMy master perceives all.â
She wondered how long the servant had been waiting. Did the sorcerer use a crystal ball, or something similar? How did his power work?
They eventually reached the home of the sorcerer, only it wasnât the kind of home Thya was used to seeing. His house was built into the mountain itself.
