THE PHYSICS OF REAL LIFE
The physics of a staff is not very new or complicated. Since a staff is like a lever, it is capable of taking a small force applied by the hands and turning it into a large force applied to the target.
Devices like this have existed for about a hundred years now. The most dramatic example of a device that can cause electric arcs like the electrostaff is the Tesla coil. Named for Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla, the Tesla coil generates a high voltage, which can cause sparks to jump from the coil to the surroundings. Originally designing it as a possible method of wireless transmission of power, Tesla built a Tesla coil in Colorado Springs capable of generating lightning bolts over one hundred feet long. Today, Tesla coils are used for educational or entertainment purposes. One group, called ArcAttack, performs educational shows with musical Tesla coils, which play songs with their electrical discharge.
RATIO OF FORCE TO HIT
Roughly speaking, the ratio of the force applied by the attacker to the force of the hit on the target is equal to the ratio of the distances of the ends from the axis of rotation as described by .
