“We used to drive up to Duke University.”

“Did your son go there? Or, does he go there?”

“No. We just liked the campus. He lives in Raleigh.”

“Nice area,” I said, even though I had only been there once, which included the perusal of an outdoor flea market and a stop at a pizza place. “Do you visit him?”

“We used to go there twice a year, but now he comes down here once a year, so we don’t go up there to see him anymore.”

“Oh.”

“We used to own real estate in Florida, but the market tanked. Things aren’t the same. That’s why I work here.”
