It’s Not About Resources but Resourcefulness

Often, you only need a few resources to achieve your goals and bring your ideas to fruition. Acknowledge what you have, envision what you want, and focus on how you’re going to get it.

While this chapter is more about who you know and how you can network to leverage your ideas, I want to start by mentioning the resources so many of us think we lack.

The most valuable resource we have, above everything else, is time. That’s because each one of us has only a finite amount of time in our lives, and there’s no way to buy, barter, trade, sell, or collect more of it. In a business sense, time itself really is money. If you don’t have time to start your business and invest in your business, then you’re going to end up under-developing, if not losing, your business.

When it comes to striving toward any goal, whether in your business or personal life, all other resources can be given, received, and exchanged. Money, for example, is just another resource, another exchange. It comes in, it goes out, and it moves fluidly to help us. It’s a tool we use to keep moving forward.

Sometimes, though, money is the one resource we think we’re lacking. So many people feel that a lack of money will prevent them from achieving success.

It won’t. Money can always be found somewhere, even if it’s not directly in your hands. The only thing that can limit you from achieving your goals is a lack of resourcefulness There’s always a way to connect what you have with what you don’t have. That connection will help you to get what you need.
