The actions of The Party of Cthulhu are purely fictional. The Agricultural and Life Sciences professors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are intelligent scientists, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, have never in real life allowed a massive wild boar to escape and cause damage to the surrounding area.

The Hodag is indeed a much talked-about creature in Wisconsin folklore, and many people claim to have seen it over the years. President Calvin Coolidge really did spend the summer of 1928 in northern Wisconsin, and one novelty song about the President repeatedly referenced his refusal to seek a second term with the refrain, “I do not choose to run.” At the end of the song, President Coolidge goes fishing in northern Wisconsin, sees the Hodag, screams, and declares, “I think I choose to run!”)
