Sometimes she would open the door to Naomi’s bedroom and watch her sleeping. How easy it would be to press a pillow to her face. This thought was insidious and horrifying enough to hurry her back to her own room, only to lie awake and imagine those trusting, doe-like eyes narrowing as Naomi finally began to speak in coherent sentences.
