Paintings make a stronger impression when congregated together, hung inches apart rather than scattered around the room.
Some of the strongest groupings mass similar subjects—say, landscapes, ladies, children, fruit, animals, birds, flowers or tightly arranged botanicals or architectural plates—creating a focus of their own.
