Accepting Communication and Beyond
Accepting Communication is where all the good stuff starts manifesting easily. We’ve crossed over the bridge of Assertive Communication, and we’re standing on higher ground. We’re showing up in the world as an empowered Adult. We’ve surrendered our fear—examined it, learned from it, and expanded it—in order to become powerful.
For many people the concept of surrendering means giving up, waving the white flag, admitting defeat. This is the opposite of what I’m suggesting. Surrendering is seeking truth over seeking compliance. It is not knowing and yet, completely knowing that all is okay. It is the realization that what you defend against, you create. The more you dig your heels in, the more resistance you’ll experience.
The empowered choice is to do all that you possibly can to expand the situation to its highest place and then let go. See what unfolds. Trust in the signs without judgment. You “let it be,” just as the Beatles said to do.
Being an Accepting Communicator doesn’t mean you accept bad or inappropriate treatment; instead, it means you are wise enough to see that you can’t change anything until you first accept that it is what it is. It also allows you to weigh things out and to see if it is even within your control or your circumstance to change. Besides, you know now how to set a healthy boundary, should you find yourself feeling frustrated or taken advantage of.
Accepting Communication allows you to become open-minded, calm, and reasonable. You relax and trust. You live and let live.
